For students
What happens to your information?
This is the short version of the privacy notice, written for students. You can ask Michael or a trusted adult if anything is unclear.
What the site keeps
For tuition, this can include your name, email, age group, lesson times, messages and the work you choose to put in the lesson space—such as chat, whiteboards, code and files. For a free workshop, the site uses the name and verified email on the account that reserves the place; you can submit a question privately and it is shown anonymously only if the host selects it. Stripe handles card details, so the tutoring website does not see or store full card numbers.
Why it is needed
The information is used to create your account, arrange and teach lessons, let the right people into your lesson space, keep the service secure and respond if somebody reports a safety or privacy concern.
Who can see it
Michael can see the information needed to tutor you. A parent linked to your profile can see your lesson arrangements and shared tutoring conversation. Other students cannot find your profile or message you. Service companies such as the secure hosting, video, whiteboard and email providers process only the information needed to run those features.
Parent links
If a parent created your profile before you signed in, their access pauses when you activate a 13–17 student login. Your dashboard asks you to accept or reject the link. Accept only someone you recognise as your parent or guardian. Under-13 profiles are managed through a parent account and do not have their own login.
Think before you share
Use messages and lesson tools for tuition and lesson arrangements only. Do not include sensitive information or personal contact details. Use Report concern if something in a message, file, chat or whiteboard worries you. If somebody is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services or a trusted adult.
If you report something
Michael will review the concern promptly and may hide the content, restrict an account or contact somebody who can help. You will be told the outcome when it is safe and lawful to do so. If you think the decision is wrong, reply to the outcome or email michael@compscitutoring.co.uk and ask for it to be looked at again. You will not get into trouble for making a genuine report or appeal.
Where to get help
Speak to a trusted adult if something online is worrying you. You can contact Childline on 0800 1111, Samaritans on 116 123, or Beat for eating-disorder support. Call 999 if somebody is in immediate danger.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what information is held about you, ask for mistakes to be corrected, and sometimes ask for information to be deleted or its use limited. Email michael@compscitutoring.co.uk. You will not get into trouble for asking a privacy question or reporting a concern.
